Savings for Kids...

There are tax advantages to saving in your child's name (especially if he or she is 14 years or older and the kiddie tax no longer applies).

By putting money in your child's name can reduce eligibility for college financial aid.  A large percentage of aid comes in the form of loans.  If you don't want your child to take on a grater debt burden in the future, you may prefer to take advantage of savings vehicles, such as the Education IRA, which allows funds to build up, TAX FREE.
